Volunteers & Interns Programme

Learning while Serving

The Volunteers & Interns Programme (VIP) is the Council of Congregational Life and Witness gap year programme and is for 18-25 year-olds from within the Presbyterian Church.

The programme exists to encourage the growth and development of young adults with discipleship training and opportunities to serve God within a congregation or ministry project. It also helps local congregations and/or ministry projects in their work within the Presbyterian Church as they reach out to their local community and carry out youth and children’s work.

The young adults involved work within a congregation or ministry project for 10-12 months. The role that they play is invaluable as it supports youth & children’s ministry throughout the Presbyterian Church in Ireland; and each person makes a valuable contribution to the work as they bring their skills, freshness and enthusiasm to the year.

All young adults involved gain new experiences of the wider church and have opportunities to learn new skills and develop their existing skills. Training appropriate for the work is provided in September and at various stages throughout the year; along with support and supervision at an individual and group level.
